A comparative study of macular thickness measurements using spectral domain-optical coherence tomography before and after cataract surgery in patients with diabetes mellitus and their age matched controls

چکیده

Patients with diabetes mellitus who undergo cataract surgery can be prone for macular edema post-operatively.Aimof this study wasto compare thickness in diabetics and non-diabetics, pre post using SD-OCT. A Cohort of 50 diabetic non-diabetic patients presented to ophthalmology out patient department, aged 50–70 years underwent assessment SD–OCT surgery. The showed a steady increase time non-diabetics seen at baseline, 1 week operative 6 weeks op. But the mean difference was higher statistical significance(p<0.05). OCT is noninvasive investigation which differentiate between postoperative cystoid edema. Preoperative will useful management both conditions, thus improving visual prognosis

Macular thickness and macular volume measurements using spectral domain optical coherence tomography in normal Nepalese eyes

PURPOSE To record the normative values for macular thickness and macular volume in normal Nepalese eyes. METHODS In all, 126 eyes of 63 emmetropic subjects (mean age: 21.17±6.76 years; range: 10-37 years) were assessed for macular thickness and macular volume, using spectral domain-optical coherence tomography over 6×6 mm(2) in the posterior pole. A fast macular thickness protocol was employe...

Comparison of Macular Thickness in Diabetic Macular Edema Using Spectral-Domain Optical Coherence Tomography and Time-Domain Optical Coherence Tomography

Purpose. To compare the macular thicknesses in diabetic macular edema (DME) measured with spectral-domain optical coherence tomography (SD-OCT) and time-domain (TD) OCT. Patients and Methods. The average macular thicknesses of 50 eyes of 29 patients with DME were measured using SD-OCT and TD-OCT. Results. The mean macular thicknesses measured with TD-OCT and SD-OCT were 401.5 ± 117.8 μm (mean ±...

Retinal Ganglion Cell Complex in Alzheimer Disease: Comparing Ganglion Cell Complex and Central Macular Thickness in Alzheimer Disease and Healthy Subjects Using Spectral Domain-Optical Coherence Tomography

Introduction: Alzheimer disease (AD) is the most common form of dementia worldwide. The modalities to diagnose AD are generally expensive and limited. Both the central nervous system (CNS) and the retina are derived from the cranial neural crest; therefore, changes in retinal layers may reflect changes in the CNS tissue. Optical coherence tomography (OCT) machine can show delicate retinal layer...
